Making Connections is a school-based family support program offering a variety of programs to families attending Galbraith, Senator Buchanan and Westminster Schools. 

WHO CAN USE OUR SERVICES?

Making Connections welcomes students, parents, foster parents, siblings and extended family members affiliated with Galbraith, Senator Buchanan, Westminster and Park Meadows Elementary Schools

HOW DO WE ACCOMPLISH THIS?

EDUCATION

·          Courses for parents on family relationships

·          Classes on specific parenting topics

·          Resource Library for parents

·          Monthly parent newsletter

·          Special interest classes for students

·          Homework clubs

 SOCIAL SUPPORT

·          Special interest support groups

·          Leisure activities for parents, families or students

·          One-on-one counselling and parenting support

·          Liaison to community resources

·          Crisis intervention

·          In-Home support services

 FINANCIAL SUPPORT

·          Semi-annual free clothing exchange

·          Free haircuts (monthly)

·          Subsidy arrangements for courses and sports programs

·          Food Bank referrals

·          Community Kitchens

·          Breakfast Club

MISSION STATEMENT

Making Connections works with parents, children and school staff to make the best possible learning environment for children at home and at school.

Our purpose is to support families socially, educationally, financially and culturally using school and community resources, to help create healthy relationships and solid foundations for learning.
